Blizzard Warning Issued For SE Nebraska

OMAHA – The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning from noon Saturday to 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Mixed precipitation Saturday morning is forecast to develop into blizzard conditions into Saturday night.

Total snow accumulations of three to nine inches are forecast, with a light glaze of ice. Wind gusts of 35 to 50 mph are expected Saturday afternoon into Saturday night.

The warned area includes portions of southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa.

Atchison County Missouri Emergency Management also warns of blizzard conditions, particularly between 5 and 8 p.m.on Saturday.

The weather service warns that roads will become very hazardous or impassable. Areas of blowing snow will reduce visibility. Gusty winds may bring down branches and cause power outages.
