Cities Declare Snow Emergency

NEBRASKA CITY – Several cities in River Country are declaring snow emergencies in preparation of snow removal.

Nebraska City officials have declared a snow emergency beginning at 9 p.m. today.

Street Commissioner Vic Johns said there is no parking of cars along snow routes. Call cars must be moved from the streets so that crews can remove snow.

Emergency snow routes, which include portions of Central Avenue, are marked with blue snow route signs. Routes generally include First Avenue, First Corso from Fifth to 16th streets.

Falls City police are advising motorists to park vehicles on the south and west side of the road until snow has been removed.

There is no parking on the north and east side of the streets.

Snow emergencies are also declared for Essex, Shenandoah and Sidney.

OPPD reports 11 power outages in Cass, two in Johnson and two in Otoe counties.

Nebraska City Utilities report no power outages as of 8:21 a.m.
