It’s now time for your Buzz of Country on Today’s Best Country B103!
Congratulations to Josh Turner, whose brand new album, Deep South, debuts at Number One on this week’s Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Josh wrote five of the 11 tracks on the album which includes his current Top 10 hit, “Hometown Girl.”
Josh said, “I’ve lived a lot of life since the release of my last album and I’ve learned a lot during the making of this album. I have grown as a writer and as an artist.”
Deep South is Josh’s first new album in five years.
Florida Georgia Line is shooting up the charts with “God, Your Mama And Me,” their collaboration with the Backstreet Boys, and now there’s another musical pairing to their credit. The guys will appear on The Chainsmokers‘ upcoming album, Memories … Do Not Open, which will be released on April 7th. The song is called “Last Day Alive,” and as Tyler Hubbard tells us, it was a case of divine intervention.
“It kind of happened last minute. We got a call from them and they pretty much had this song and they wanted us to sing on it. And it was just a meant to be thing, it really was. It was funny, a few weeks earlier we literally were in an interview and they said, ‘Who would you like to collaborate with?’ And for the first time. BK said, ‘Well the Chainsmokers would be cool.’ And in my head I literally was thinking, ‘Wow, that’s something we’ve never talked about but that would be really cool.’ And the next thing you know, a week and a half later we’re getting a phone call. So it’s just funny how we really do feel like it’s kind of a God thing and it was definitely meant to be.”
FGL’s Dig Your Roots tour rolls on this upcoming weekend.
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will release their newest collaboration, a song called “Speak to a Girl,” to country radio on Thursday (March 23rd). The new duet will also be available to download and stream at that time.
Tim and Faith will debut “Speak to a Girl” live on the 52nd annual Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, April 2nd.
“Speak to a Girl,” is the lead single from Tim and Faith’s long-anticipated album of duets set for release later this year.
