Wayne State College Department of Music announces Piano Day is Friday, Feb. 16 with a concert at 11 a.m.

This concert is free and open to the public. The time has changed from the previously announced afternoon concert.

“A Touch of Brass” at Wayne State College

TV nostalgia when local brass quintet, A Touch of Brass, performs at Wayne State

College, Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. in Ley Theatre. Name That TV Theme Song asks

audience members to recognize and name the TV show and musical number. Most

shows, but not all, are from the 1950s, such as The Lone Ranger and Alfred Hitchcock

Hour. Dr. David Bohnert, Director of Bands at WSC, presents a Trumpet Recital

Monday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Ley Theatre. This performance features Shelly

Armstrong playing piano and varied repertoire involving assorted trumpets.

Free reception follows this concert. Both events are free and open to the public.

Events at Wayne State College

Wayne State College Department of Music hosts two upcoming events celebrating
musical history and education. The Black History Month Recital is Friday, Feb. 23 at
7:30 p.m. in Ley Theatre. Music faculty perform classical compositions by African-
American composers. This concert is free and open to the public. The I HEART Singing
Day concert is Saturday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. in Ramsey Theatre. The concert features a
children’s choir from Pender, NE; a youth choir from Seward, NE; a men’s choir from
Wartburg College, Waverly, IA; and several choirs from Wayne State College. Doors
open at 2:45 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and free for youth 12 and under and
WSC students, faculty and staff.
