2017 Saw Passing Of Well-Known NC Veterans

NEBRASKA CITY – 2017 saw the passing of two well-known Nebraska City veterans, Lester Kinnison and Bill Moore.

Kinnison, a graduate of Nebraska City High School in 1942, served in the Philippines during World War II. He earned the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Infantry Badge.

He was past commander of the American Legion and served 60 years on the honor guard. He is a life member of the VFW Post 2634. He died at the age of 93 in Lincoln, where he lived with his wife Janis.

Moore was born near Brownville and graduated Auburn High School in 1945. He was drafted into the Army in 1945 served in the military police after Victory in Japan Day.  He retired after 41 years of active duty. He served as a chaplain for the US Army Reserve.

He died at the age of 91 at Nebraska City, where he lived with his wife Helen.
