Auburn closes regular season with victory over district rival

FALLS CITY – Auburn senior running back Baily Darnell accounted for 232 total yards and five touchdowns – in one half – and the Bulldogs ran past Falls City Thursday night at Jug Brown Stadium, 48-0.

Darnell rushed for 118 yards and 4 touchdowns – 3 in the first quarter – on 8 carries. He added 114 receiving and another score, including an 81-yard touchdown pass from his younger brother, Brody.

Drew and Ryan Dixon each added a rushing touchdown.

Auburn finished with 428 yards of total offense.

The Bulldogs defense held the Tigers to just 56 total yards of offense – 11 yards in the first half – and forced five fumbles.

Auburn ends the regular season with an 8-1 record, a similar record they had last season when they were eliminated in the first round of the Class C1 playoffs by Boone Central/Newman Grove, 40-3. It ties for the best season since their 2006 state championship year.
