TECUMSEH – The Johnson County Central football team had three rushers run for over 100 yards, the Thunderbirds held Syracuse to just 97 total yards, and JCC finished the season with a 59-8 victory over the Rockets Friday night in Tecumseh.
Senior Josh Bailey led the ground attack with 222 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns. The 5’10” 210-pound running back finishes his Thunderbird career with 3,431 rushing yards in three seasons.
Junior Levi Dorsey had two scores on two carries and finished with 124 yards. He also had 50 yards receiving with another touchdown.
Senior Kole Kleespies added 105 yards on the ground with two trips to the end zone. He added another score on a 21-yard touchdown pass from junior Eli Waring.
Waring went 4-8 for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
Johnson County Central had a total of 583 yards, including 479 on the ground.
Senior guard and fullback Simon Rother had the Thunderbirds other score.
Junior split end Grant Stubbendeck led Syracuse with 56 receiving yards on 5 catches and a 42-yard touchdown from sophomore Burton Brandt.
JCC finishes the season with a 4-5 record for the second-straight season, while the Rockets wrap-up the year at 1-8.
