JOHNSON – Seth Moerer, Wyatt Volker and Shane Westhart terrorized the Pender backfield, leading the Johnson-Brock defense in holding the Pendragons to just 178 total yards, and the No. 2 Eagles defeated No. 15 Pender, 82-3, in the first round of the Nebraska School Activities Association Class D2 State Football Playoffs Thursday in Johnson.
Senior quarterback Cole Fossenbarger accounted for 182 of Johnson-Brock’s 337 total yards. He threw for four touchdowns and scored another one on the ground.
Fossenbarger connected with junior wide receiver Ty Hahn twice for scores. Hahn finished with 79 yards receiving. He also had a rushing touchdown.
Sophomore wide receiver Kaden Glynn had 83 yards receiving on two catches, including a 72-yard touchdown.
Senior running back Dylan Rowe scored three total times, two on the ground and one receiving. He had a 34-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Freshman backup quarterback Caleb Fossenbarger added two scores on the ground.
Pender senior running back Jaydon Jump led the Pendragons with 58 yards rushing and 84 yards receiving. Their lone score came on a 33-yard field goal off the foot of sophomore Dylan Vogt near the end of the second quarter.
Johnson-Brock (9-0) advances to the second round to play Allen on Halloween. No. 7 Allen (6-3) defeated No. 10 Emerson-Hubbard (6-3), 60-26. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and will air on News Channel Nebraska TV or radio.
Pender finishes the season 4-5.
