Falls City Hosts Cobblestone Parade 2018

FALLS CITY – The Cobblestone Festival Parade at Falls City had over 150 entries and 3,000 spectators Aug. 25.

Partners In Education sponsored the crowing of Mr. and Miss Cobblestone. 18-month-old Gage Lovenburg rode in the parade as Mr. Cobblestone.

Paul Weinert was the grand marshal.

Weinert: “About two weeks ago Lori Gottula stopped past our house with a bouquet of flowers. I thought it was something she was bringing for my wife because nobody ever brought flowers to me. So, at 88, it was the first bouquet I had ever received.”

Weinert was born and raised in the area and spent most of his life here. The last 25 years of teaching career was at Falls City Public High School. He is a retired church pastor, but fills in when needed.

Gottula, who has helped organize the parade for two decades, said she thinks the floats were the best ever.

Community Medical Center won best in show.
