FALLS CITY – Falls City manufacturers led students on 21 tours during Nebraska Manufacturing Day Friday offering students an inside look at the workplace and providing a glimpse at over two dozen careers.
Falls City EDGE organized tours for over 300 students from Falls City and Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer. Students visited Falls City Foods, Vantec, Fast Global Solutions, Airlanco, Consolidated Grain and Barge and Frost-Tec.
Falls City middle school students toured Frost-Tech, where owner Joel Frost demonstrated a laser cutter and 165-ton brake press.
Jerry Lindstrom, human resource coordinator for Fast Global Solutions, showed students the manufacturing process for cargo dollies, sort bins and luggage carts. He said manufacturing day tours are a way to interest students in manufacturing careers.
Fast Global Solutions has 150 employees working in three shifts and Airlanco has 70 employees, including its research and development facility.

Vantec employees 18 in custom plastic injection and Consolidate Grain employs 12. Falls City Foods is among the newest members of the manufacturing base with its pet and animal feed.
