Falls City Woman Wins Ariens Apex 60-Inch Riding Lawnmower

FALLS CITY  – Ann Claymiller of Falls City won an Apex 60-inch riding  lawnmower from the employees at Ariens Company in Auburn Monday for her guess on how far it would travel on a trip from the B103 studios in downtown Nebraska City on a route to Falls City.

The giveaway was part of a B103 promotion called “Swanson Summer Shenanigans.”

The mower ran out of gas west of Verdon as News Director Dan Swanson mowed a path in the Highway 73 roadside ditch.

Claymiller said a call from the radio station saying she had won came as a surprise.

Claymiller: “I can’t believe it. I don’t win things.”

She said her co-workers at F&M Bank went together to register during a promotion sponsored next door at the Falls City Chamber of Commerce.

Her first time ever on a riding lawn mower, came on the new Ariens Apex 60.

Claymiller:  What will you do with it? “Mow the lawn a lot.”

Her lawn was mowed last Thursday, but her mower broke down.

“I just got around to the back and it went sputter, sputter die. I had gas, so it’s dead.”

Claymiller said she attempted to calculate miles per gallon she thought a riding mower might have and made her guess of 39.5 miles. The actual distance was 39.2 miles.
