Gun Charges Filed After Rural Burglary Near Talmage

NEBRASKA CITY – Johnson County authorities have filed charges against two men linked to the alleged burglary of guns from a house southwest of Talmage.

Charges of possession of a firearm by prohibited persons are filed against Chad S. Jones, 45, and Gerald Landers Jr., 48, of Tecumseh.

Otoe County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Briley told the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office that a stolen rifle and large amount of ammunition taken from Matthew Morrow’s residence had been recovered. Two guns, a Mauser rifle and single-shot shotgun had been pawned in Omaha.

Morrow told investigators the guns and ammunition had been taken from the unoccupied, rural property. Also reported missing were a welder, chain saws, aluminum boat, Winchester rifle, British 303 military rifle and 1980s Ford ambulance from Talmage.

An arrest affidavit says the guns were taken from inside the house while others searched the yard for scrap metal and salvageables.
