WEEPING WATER – The 4-H horse show got underway at the Cass County Fair Wednesday with the selection of the top aged gelding.
The dark, dappled gray quarter horse, named Lex, was shown by Samantha Hall of Weeping Water.
The judge said there was some “muscling” issues in the class of eight geldings, but said those can be taken care of with some “tough riding.”
The top aged mare was shown by nine-year-old Blake Beck of Louisville.
The show was moved to grass outside of the practice arena due to standing water in the main arena. Beck was credited for using the slope of the terrain to give his mare, Blondie, a well-structured look.
Ella Hadfield of Plattsmouth showed the fair’s top pony. Hadfield’s grandpa bought the grade horse that Hadfield described as a having a “crazy mane.”
