YUTAN – Liam Raison went 2-3 with five RBI’s on two singles and the Auburn Legion Baseball team finished the Yutan District Tune-Up Tournament with a 16-6 four-inning win over the hosts on Sunday afternoon.
Auburn put up seven runs in the fourth inning on RBI’s from Raison, Brody Darnell, Jaxson Balm, Drew Dixon and Sam Neiman.
Seth Zimmerman picked up the win on the mound. He went three inning, allowed no runs on one hit and struck out three.
Yutan’s six runs came in the bottom of the fourth. Jake Butler, Will Hays and Drake Hobza each had RBI singles.
Auburn finished the tournament 2-1 and improved their record to 17-6 going into this weekend’s Area B1 Tournament in Beatrice. They lost to North Bend on Saturday, 5-4, before defeating Parkview Christian later in the day, 3-0.
Falls City holds off Pleasant Dale to finish 1-1 at Crete Tournament
CRETE – The Falls City Legion Baseball team built a seven-run lead in the third inning, but had to hold off a late charge from Pleasant Dale to finish 1-1 at the Crete Tournament with an 8-6 win on Sunday.
The Blue Storm got on the board in the first inning on a triple from Jake Craig. They notched four more runs in the second inning. Kade Bredemeier, Zach Beaver, and Craig all knocked in runs in the frame.
Pleasant Dale scored three runs in the fifth inning. Nate Mensik, Mitch Wingard, and Evan Richards all drove in runs.
Noah Milam was the winning pitcher. He surrendered four runs on one hit over four innings, striking out four.
Nick Novak finshed 2-4 to lead Falls City.
The Blue Storm once trailed by nine in their first game of the tournament, but their rally fell short in an 11-10 loss to Fairbury earlier in the day. Milam went 1-3 and scored twice.
Falls City sits at 11-10 and will travel to Nebraska City on Tuesday to play Post 8 at 7 p.m. They will compete in the Area B1 Tournament this weekend in Beatrice.
