Lincoln mayor orders mandatory water restrictions

LINCOLN, NE (News Channel Nebraska) – Mayor Chris Beutler announced mandatory water restrictions Sunday evening for Lincoln residents.

The new Level 2 Water Use Restriction Emergency declaration is due to a temporary loss of pressure in the pipeline between the wellfields and water treatment plant near Ashland.

Although water production has resumed, ongoing issues with power loss are still effecting wellfields on the Platte River.

The level two mandatory restrictions effects industrial, commercial and residential water usage.

The mayor is calling residents to shorten showers and postpone dishwashing and laundry.

Residents are reminded that Lincoln’s water quality has not been affected.
