SPRINGFIELD – The Lourdes Central Catholic girls basketball team didn’t see the lead in the second half until senior Macey Allgood drained two-straight threes to give the Knights a 27-23 lead with 2:49 left in the fourth quarter of the Class C2-7 District Final.

Lourdes wouldn’t give up the lead again.

Allgood finished with 9 points, junior Elaina Madison added 8, and the Knights (20-5) advanced to the Nebraska School Activities Association State Basketball Championships for the second time in school history with a 34-28 victory over Yutan Friday night at Platteview High School.

Lourdes, who was trailing 10-6 at halftime, picked up their pace and pressure in the fourth quarter to help get better shots, according to Head Coach Clay Carlton.

“We started the pushing the floor. Our bigs started running. We got out in transition and finished a couple. We got to the free throw line. We knocked down a couple big threes.”

It’s Lourdes’ first trip since 2000.

Molly Davis led the Chieftains with 10 points. Riley Jones added 7. Yutan finishes the season 20-5.
