Mayor Recognizes Lourdes’ State Champion Team In Proclamation

NEBRASKA CITY – Mayor Bryan Bequette recognized the Lourdes Central Catholic basketball team and commended them for their 2017 D1 basketball championship in a proclamation given Monday at City Hall.

He said Lourdes prepared for its defense of the state title with the slogan “Rise as One” and compiled a record of 21 wins and five losses. The team amassed 1,477 points, nearly 400 points above their opponents, and became the school’s first team to ever win back-to-back state championships.

Bequette: “Whereas, the mayor, as well as the citizens of the city of Nebraska City, are always proud of the academic and athletic achievements of their local students.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Mayor of Nebraska City that the Lourdes Central Catholic High School Basketball Team is hereby recognized and commended for its accomplishments in winning the 2017 Nebraska D1 Basketball Championship.”

The mayor’s proclamation includes the names of each player, coaches and team assistants.
