Omaha, Neb. – While the number of flu cases in and around Omaha has dropped the number of deaths from the flu is up.
According to the Douglas County Health Department, three adults have died from the flu in the last week, while the weekly number of confirmed cases of the flu dropped from 370 to 302.
Eleven flu outbreaks occurred in long-term care facilities in the county.
This flu season has seen a total of nearly 26 hundred laboratory-confirmed cases of the flu, the vast majority in Douglas County from the strain known as influenza A.
There has been one child-flu death in Nebraska this season. The child was NOT from Douglas County.
