Mountain Lion Sighted In Gordon

GORDON – A mountain lion has been spotted in the backyard of a Northwest Nebraska home.

Sheridan County authorities have confirmed the sighting of a mountain lion within the Gordon city limits about 6:00 a.m. on November 5th and are advising caution for residents of the Gordon area.

Sheridan County Attorney Jamian Simmons says a Gordon household’s security camera caught photos of a mountain lion just outside a house in two separate sightings.

Simmons says around 6 a.m. a Gordon officer, a sheriffs deputy, and a USDA representative identified a place where the animal may have been sleeping and were able to confirm the sighting.

Simmons says efforts with the Nebraska Game and Parks to track down the mountain lion are continuing.
