NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – Area business owners, managers and residents were introduced to the new coaches at Nebraska City Public Schools and Lourdes Central Catholic during Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce’s Hot Topics discussion Wednesday morning.
The activities directors from both schools, Joe Tynon (Lourdes) and Matt Koehler (NCHS), introduced their new coaches. Fans learned more about each coach and heard their plans for the upcoming school year.
New Pioneers Girls Basketball Coach Justin Parr, originally from Battle Creek, Neb., says it’s nice to see a community so involved and it shows parents and fans care about the players and coaches, and they want to know what’s going on.
“I meet a lot of people. Again, it’s that ‘small-town vibe’: everybody’s so friendly, they’ll come right up to you, they’ll ask what I’m teaching, what I’m coaching and how everything is going. I just kind of love the atmosphere.”
Parr, a graduate from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, moved to town in May.
Hot Topics is a public forum held on the second Wednesday of each month at Scooter’s Coffee in Nebraska City.
