Nebraska City Students Qualify For National Speech Tournament

NEBRASKA CITY – Two Nebraska City speech students qualified for the national tournament after Monday’s 14-hour qualifier tournament.

Oliver Borchers-Williams qualified in international extemporaneous speaking and Chloe Higgins qualified in informative speaking.

Makensi Blum was fifth in informative speaking.

The national tournament of the National Speech and Debate Association is scheduled June 17-22 in Fort Lauderdale.

Borchers-Williams was a quarterfinalist at the national speech tournament last year.

The Nebraska City speech has scheduled a community showcase Monday, March 12, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
