Nebraska City’s Season Ends at the Hands of Bennington

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – Nebraska City saw their junior legion baseball season come to an end Monday at the Class B State Tournament at Clemmy Holmes Field. The Post 8 Juniors were eliminated from tournament play by Bennington, 11-2.

The Post 266 Juniors took the lead in the fourth inning when Nathaniel Lueders cleared the bases with an RBI double, scoring three runs. They added six more runs in the fifth on doubles by Cody Flynn and Rylan Wallingford.

Lueders finished 3-4 at the plate with 4 RBI’s.

Colton Smith pitched six and a third innings, allowing two runs, eight hits, striking out 11 and walking one in the victory.

Dylan Knoell took the loss for Nebraska City. He tossed four innings, surrendering eight runs, four hits and striking out two.

Tyler Levy and Quintin Holman each collected two hits for Nebraska City.

Bennington will play the winner of Springfield/Waverly Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Nebraska City finishes the season 28-4.
