New Members of NC Police and Fire Forces Introduced

NEBRASKA CITY – New members of the Nebraska City fire and police departments were introduced at Monday’s city council meeting.

Mayor Bryan Bequette swore in new police officer Kyle Boyle of Syracuse.

Boyle has a degree in criminal justice. He has been riding with other officers the past three weeks and will attend the law enforcement training academy in Grand Island. He replaces Officer Coray Bell.

Fire Chief Al Viox commended Joe O’Flaherty and his wife Kelly on his  26 years of service.

A reception is scheduled Tuesday at the fire museum from 4 to 7 p.m.

Viox also introduced new apparatus engineer Bruce Gruber of Farragut.

Gruber earned his fire science degree at Kirkwood Community College and has experience  working as an EMT with the Midwest Regional Dive Team and as a firefighter for the Red Oak and North Liberty fire departments.

He called the Nebraska City job a lifelong dream.

Also introduced were volunteer firefighters Luis Santiago, Benjamin Huesinkvelt and Alex Gress.
