PERU – After six lead changes and five ties, the Peru State men’s basketball team kept their unbeaten home record in-tact with a 96-90 win over Culver-Stockton on Saturday afternoon at the Al Wheeler Activities Center in Peru.
LJ Westbrook had another double-double this season, 20 points and 10 rebounds. Quantice Hunter led the Bobcats with 22 points, and Nolan Cass and Andre-Frazier-Stanley each added 11 points.
Culver-Stockton’s Mike Johnson finished with a game-high 32 points.
Peru State is now 16-8 (10-3) this season, while Culver-Stockton drops to 5-19 (2-11).
Meanwhile in the women’s game, Peru State finished the game with only four players due to foul trouble. Culver-Stockton would take advantage. The Wildcats outscored the Bobcats, 31-21, in the final period, on their way to an 84-69 win.
Culver-Stockton (10-12, 5-8) was led by Lacy Clark, who had a game-high 21 points. Carly Harper had a double-double – 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Lauren Beath and Swaranga Fernando led Peru State (3-20, 0-13) with 14 points a piece.
Both Peru State teams will travel to Oskaloosa, IA on Wednesday evening to take on William Penn. Culver-Stockton will host Missouri Valley on Wednesday night.
