PERU, Neb. – The Peru State College football team (2-0) will make the five hour trip to Springfield, MO Saturday morning to play Evangel (0-2) at 6 p.m. that evening.
Head Coach Steve Schneider says, despite the Crusaders’ record and scores, they are a “pretty solid football team” and have improved since last season.
“They’re pretty disciplined on defense and don’t give up big plays. Offensively, they have a fairly balanced attack. The strength of their offense is (1) their offensive line and (2) they kind of spread the wealth among their skill guys, running and passing.”
Evangel lost at #9 Grand View, 37-17, to begin the season on Aug. 24. Last week, the Crusaders fell to Benedictine, who is just outside the NAIA top-25, 37-10. Saturday’s game with PSC will be the team’s home opener.
Peru State will focus on keeping their routine after the 310-mile trip and they want to jump out in front early, according to Schneider.
The Bobcats took a 26-0 halftime lead in their win over CMU. They finished with 309 rushing yards and 416 total yards.
Coverage of the Bobcats and Crusaders will begin at 5:30 on KNCY 1600 AM, 105.5 FM and ncn21.com. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
