NEBRASKA CITY – Dan and Sharon Wherry encouraged Nebraska City Rotarians Wednesday to join the fight against sex trafficking.
They highlighted Rotary’s Action Group Against Slavery and local programs intended to train hotel and motel employees on the warning signs of forced sex trafficking.
Wherry: “We need to be vigilant and, if we want to keep hotels and motels safe for everybody to attend, we would like to get more Rotarians in their towns and cities training hotels and motels on the signs of trafficking and what to do to stop it.”
She said a Creighton University study showed that over 2,000 different people were offered for sex in on-line commercials over a six-month period in the Omaha area.
She said Rotarians across the district have been receptive to the training and are making it harder for sex traffickers to go undetected.
