Serious Injuries In Four-Vehicle Highway Crash

AUBURN – The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office investigated a four-vehicle accident Saturday on Highway 75 south of the Peru corner near Road 733A.

A GMC pickup driven by 65-year-old Randall Rohrs of Johnson had slowed on the highway to make a turn. The northbound pickup was struck from behind by a Buick sedan driven by 88-year-old Myrna Campbell of Peru.

The collision caused the pickup to spin into the southbound lane, where it collided with a passenger van driven by 47-year-old Jeffrey Blair of American Fork, Utah. The van went off the road into deep snow.

A 2017 Toyota utility vehicle driven by Richard Johnson of Oak Ridge, Tenn., evaded a collision with the vehicles, but hit a mailbox as it also left the highway.

Witnesses at the scene said the accident occurred just as a funeral procession was passing.

Minor injuries were reported to passengers in the van, 13-year-old Michael Blair and six-year-old Marissa Blair.

Extrication equipment was used to free Campbell. Auburn rescue transported her and Rohrs to the Nemaha County Hospital with serious injuries.
