NEBRASKA CITY – The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of what appears to be human remains.
Sheriff Colin Caudill says a young lady, who was looking for fossils in a creek south of Palmyra on Monday, found what appears to be the top of human skull.
The sheriff’s office contacted the landowner and Otoe County Attorney. The bone was turned over to the Nebraska Archaeological Society in hopes of learning if it is human and any other details. He said it has been determined that the bone is very old.
The sheriff says the bone was found in an area of the creek where it may have been carried by high water.
