Snowfall Greets Trail of Treats In Nebraska City

NEBRASKA CITY – Snowfall and costumes dominated the Trail of Treats sponsored by the Nebraska City News-Press in downtown Nebraska City Tuesday afternoon.

Duane Koehlmoos of Brown Shoes poured hundreds of cups of cola, candy was distributed at dozens of storefronts and the newspaper snapped photos of each costume for publication.

News-Press General Manager Tammy Schumacher said the event seems to grow each year over the past decade. Last year she bought 750 pieces of candy and distributed the sum one-by-one, but still ran out by a quarter to five.

Arbor Bank has a 1,000 pieces of candy and also had 1,000 nickels. Joe Carey of the bank admitted that he gave the kid in the steam shovel costume a couple nickels.

That kid is Jarad Nesiba. The video shows him raising candy from his bucket into the payload box.

The county clerk’s office dressed as the characters of Wizard of Oz and Patricia Lant was TeFiti from the movie Moana.
