Tiger Talk: Doane Women’s Volleyball Off to Hot Start

CRETE – On this week’s Tiger Talk, NCN visited with the highly anticipated 2017 Doane Tiger Volleyball team.

Fresh off their appearance in the NAIA National Championships in 2016, the Tigers have extremely high expectations for this year. It was the first time in four years that Doane had reached the national championships.

Last season, the Tigers finished their year at 25-10 overall and placed fourth in the GPAC. They fell in the GPAC Tournament’s semifinals to Hastings.

In 2017, they have a ton of talent returning. Now a sophomore, Alex Neff was named to First Team All-GPAC as a setter. She averaged 9.37 assists per set, while leading the conference with 63 ace serves.

Also coming back this year were Second Team All-GPAC selections, Maci Coffey and Erin Warren. Coffey has the most kills returning, and Warren with the most digs.

So far, the Tigers are off to a great start. They are 6-2 with two wins over ranked opponents. Their two losses are both to top ten teams.

This will be the fifth season under Head Coach Gwen Egbert.
