Train Traffic Delayed As Deputies Search For Suicidal Man

TECUMSEH – Authorities stopped train traffic between Elk Creek and Tecumseh Friday night after a train engineer reported two men “playing chicken” with trains.

Johnson County deputies searched  remote areas near 723 ½ Road  and detained a man who said the other man was suicidal. Burlington Northern Sante Fe agreed to stop trains until the other man  was found.

Deputies began walking the tracks and notified the railroad they could resume train traffic at 10:12 p.m. when the man was seen walking in a pasture. A rescue unit was called  due to the man’s intoxication and an injured leg.
