Winnebago Knocks Out Syracuse to Advance to Semis

LINCOLN, Neb. Despite a slow start, the Winnebago Indians have found themselves in the state semifinals yet again.

Bago took down Syracuse 59-50 at Bob Devaney Sports Center in the first round of the Class C1 tournament.

Syracuse, the #7 seed, started off up 10-3, but the Indians would take a 12-11 first quarter lead and were up three at the half. They outscored the Rockets 17-9 in the 3rd quarter to seal it.

D’Von LaPointe had 17 and Maurice Scott had 16 for Bago. Trevor Brinkman scored 16 points for Syracuse.

Winnebago will play Broken Bow in the semifinals.
