FALLS CITY – The Nebraska City football team put a lot of work and effort into being competitive last Friday vs. Class C1 No. 6 Auburn. The two teams played for the first time since 2015 and the Bulldogs were able to come away with a 20-6 win. It’s the Pioneers third-straight loss.

NCHS (2-4) travels to Falls City on Friday to play the Tigers (3-3) with the fate of each team’s season up in the air.

Huskerland Prep Report Publisher Bob Jensen says both teams are in the same boat in needing a win to keep their postseason hopes alive.

“Falls City has been playing better football. I think this is probably a game that Nebraska City is going to go in there as an underdog. I think it’s a game that Falls City is probably going to be able to close out.”

Falls City, who is currently third in the C1-1 district at 1-1, lost to Ashland-Greenwood last week on the road, 28-0.

The Pioneers and Tigers will play at Jug Brown Stadium at 5 p.m. The game will air on Otoe County Country (KNCY 1600 AM, 105.5 FM and ncnsportsnow.com).
