Nebraska volleyball coach John Cook will be inducted to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame as part of its 2017 class.

Cook, a three-time national champion at Nebraska, has reached the NCAA semifinals seven times and coached 49 AVCA All-Americans at NU.

Cook started his coaching career as an assistant at UC San Diego and Nebraska before becoming the head coach at Wisconsin from 1992 to 1999. His 660 career wins — 499 with the Huskers — have him sixth on the all-time wins leaderboard.

“It’s a great honor to be part of the 2017 AVCA Hall of Fame class,” Cook said in a statement. “While it is nice to be recognized by the AVCA, the true rewards of the coaching profession are the relationships I’ve developed over the years with my coaches, staff and student-athletes at Nebraska and Wisconsin, and the growth of the game of volleyball overall.”

Joining Cook in the class are Debbie Brown, Cecile Reynaud and Rosie Wegrich.
