Nebraska men’s gymnastics gets third at NCAA championships for best finish in 20 years

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Five Nebraska gymnasts earned All-America honors as the Huskers finished third at the NCAA championships on Saturday.

Stanford scored a 415.222 to edge Oklahoma (414.556) and deny the Sooners their fifth consecutive championship.

The Huskers followed with their best finish since 1999 with a score of 407.489, the Big Ten’s top mark.

Anton Stephenson (14.866) placed third on the vault, won by Michigan’s Anthony McCallum (15.266). Nebraska’s Charlie Giles finished eighth with a 14.600.

Jake Bonnay tied for eighth on the floor with his 14.400 mark, with Josh Martin also finishing eighth on the pommel horse at 13.600.

Khalil Jackson notched the Huskers’ best score on the high bar, finishing seventh at 13.833.​
