Soccer roundup: Huskers draw with Ohio State, extend unbeaten streak to seven games

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Nebraska and Ohio State played to a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon as the Huskers extended their unbeaten streak to seven games.

Nebraska is 5-0-2 during that span as it leads the Big Ten standings with 14 points. Rutgers is next with 11 points.

Nebraska took a 1-0 lead to halftime as Omaha Marian graduate Faith Carter scored her team-high eighth goal in the 25th minute. Carter stole the ball from an Ohio State, slipped past the goalkeeper and put away the shot.

The Huskers outshot the Buckeyes 11-4 after halftime, but Ohio State tied it on a corner kick in the 58th minute.

Nebraska returns home to face Iowa at 7:05 p.m. Friday.

Creighton falls short to DePaul in extra time

CHICAGO – DePaul scored four minutes into overtime to defeat the Creighton women 2-1 Sunday afternoon.

The Bluejays led at halftime as Kylin Grubb scored on an assist from Emma Braasch.

DePaul tied it nine minutes into the second half, then Madeline Frick won it with her overtime goal.

Katie Sullivan made seven saves for the Bluejays, who have dropped four of their last five.

Creighton returns to action Thursday at home against Georgetown.

Samantha Feller’s pair of quick strikes pushes Denver past UNO

DENVER – Samantha Feller scored twice in an 86-second span in the second half to lift Denver to a 3-1 win over the UNO women’s soccer team on Sunday.

UNO’s Bailey Cascio scored with 10 minutes left in the first half to tie it at 1-1. But Feller broke the tie with an unassisted goal in the 59th minute and added another in the 60th minute.

Denver outshot the Mavericks 14-9. Erin Bunker made seven saves, including six before halftime, for the Mavs.

UNO drops to 0-2 in Summit League play and will host IPFW on Friday.​
