$259,110 For Visitors Bleachers Approved Monday

COLUMBUS – Columbus City Council Members approved a motion to fund the construction of city bleachers on Monday.

The council approved an agreement with Crouch Recreation, Inc. for $259,110 to construct the visitor’s bleachers on the east side of Memorial Field at Pawnee Park.

Councilman Ron Schilling shared concerns that neither he nor anyone with the legion baseball committee, had been approached about the designs or construction. Schilling says his concern lies in making sure the bleacher aren’t an eye sore, for anyone attending baseball games.

Public Property Director Doug Moore said he did not think there would be any aesthetic issues with the new bleachers, and said potential options to place additional bleachers on the backside, facing the baseball field, weren’t feasible at this time.  Moore also stated, that he takes great pride in making sure the parks look as good as possible.

The motion to approve the agreement passed unanimously.
