Ag 4-Hers Kick Off Shows on Thursday

COLUMBUS – 4-Hers are making their way to Ag Park to show off their hard work from the past year.

UNL Extension Educator Jill Goedeken says Thursday saw contestants competing in the sheep, goat, and dog shows, but says they will have plenty of 4-H action happening throughout the week.

“This is my favorite week of the year. When you think about 4-H and why families should be involved in 4-H, it’s really because of the family aspect. This morning during the sheep show, I didn’t see any one 4-Her working alone, and that’s the really cool thing about 4-H. It’s a really good family event that happens all week,” says Goedeken.

Goedeken says 4-Hers are working hard all over the Platte County Fair Grounds, with the Beef and Feeder show on Friday, followed by the Ag Olympics in the evening. The Pig Show kicks off the action on Saturday followed by the Fashion Show and Pie Contest in the afternoon.

Fair entertainment starts Thursday night with the Nebraska Bush Pullers, followed by the a country lineup of Darryl Worley, Tyler Reeve, and Jackie Lee on Friday night. Saturday night’s rock entertainment features Dokken, FireHouse, Hericane Alice, and Jack Russell’s Great White.
