Alvo Board Admits To Open Meetings Violation

ALVO – The Village of Alvo filed a response in Cass County District Court admitting violations of Nebraska’s open meetings act.

The  district judge could void the board’s action in October, when two rescue squad members were terminated and two others suspended.

A lawsuit filed against the village says a closed session prior to the action was not necessary and did not give the rescue squad members opportunity to have the discussion in open session. “No emergency existed necessitating the calling of a meeting,” the lawsuit says.

The Alvo board was previously ordered to pay $4,628 in legal fees.
