Annual Holiday Lighted Parade Through Downtown Beatrice

BEATRICE – One of the kick-off events for the holiday season was held Saturday evening in downtown Beatrice.

Unusually mild temperatures in the upper 50s greeted thousands of people who attended the annual Holiday Lighted Parade.  Entries and floats adorned with Christmas lights traveled north along 5th Street, through the downtown area during the early evening.

This is the third year for the event. Beatrice Area Chamber of Commerce President Lora Young says a lot of work went into creating the lighted floats…

Young says the parade was not the only activity held on Saturday. She says other events help draw people to the community to celebrate the holiday season….

Santa Claus rode in a convertible, stopping afterward at Charles Park to meet with a line-up of kids and their parents for photos.

Saturday afternoon, trolley rides were offered through the historic downtown area.

The Main Street Beatrice organization has also kicked off their Store Front Display Contest titled “Sixteen Decades of Christmas”.  Customers can vote for their favorite display through December 18th.
