COLUMBUS – The latest crime reports for Columbus show a decrease in assaults from 2016, but a slight rise in the number of accidents.

53 traffic accidents in march added to the year’s total of 176, which is up from 169 to date in 2016. Driving under suspension citations are up slightly as well from 14 to 26, but most other categories saw a decrease in numbers, according to reports.

Leaving the scene of an accident incidents dropped from 66 to 51, while DUIs dropped from 25 to 21, and MIPs fell from 22 to 17. Drug Offenses fell from 65 to 63, with 33 of those coming in March. Assaults have been cut in half, going from 22 to 11, while burglaries fell from 16 to 8, says CPD reports.

Thefts fell from 80 to 76, while criminal mischiefs dropped from 43 to 37. Graffiti cases are minimal, but increased from 3 reports in 2016 to 9 to date this year, according to reports.
