BEATRICE – A reception was held Monday to honor retiring Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation Executive Director Sam Rennick, and welcome the new foundation director, Gina Heckey.
Rennick and his wife are retiring to northwest Omaha. Rennick says the couple is looking forward to “chasing grandkids” and finding different things to do in retirement. The BCH Foundation at the end of the past year had assets of at least $3.5 million.

Rennick says with changes in health care, having a strong foundation and capital available when you need it, are important.

Monday was the first day on the job for new BCH Foundation Executive Gina Heckey. She comes to Beatrice from Sidney, Montana. Since 2015, she has served as Senior Executive for the Sidney, Montana Health Center Foundation for Community Care. She said having just arrived, she’s impressed with the hospital and staff.

With changes in health care and insurance payment structures, Heckey says private support is becoming even more critical for hospitals.
