BEATRICE—Beatrice Community Hospital officials are preparing for the upcoming solar eclipse as thousands of people are expected to visit the area. Director of Emergency Services Michael Ament says extra staff will be on hand at the hospital to handle a possible increase in visits to the emergency room that weekend.

Ament says all parking lots at the hospital will only be open for patients and their families. While the parking lots would provide a great viewing area for the eclipse, Ament says the hospitals priority is to take care of people in need of medical care.
