BEATRICE – A Beatrice man has been arrested, suspected of stealing a van, a trailer containing tools and a pickup, on two occasions.
24-year-old Marshall Burger made a Friday appearance in Gage County Court, where his appearance bond was set at $25,000. Further hearing is scheduled on August 31st.
Beatrice Police say a pickup had been stolen from the four hundred block of Bell Street in late July. The pickup and a trailer were taken August 5th, from the twelve-hundred block of Grant. The pickup and trailer were valued at $4,000, and the trailer contained several tools.
Police found the stolen pickup in a parking garage downtown, and saw Burger allegedly driving it the following day, when it was observed in the twelve hundred block of Scott. Police went to Burger’s home, and brought him to police headquarters, where he was arrested.
Police learned the pickup and trailer had been driven to Lincoln, and the trailer was left behind a Walmart Store on North 27th. Lincoln Police located the trailer, but said tools were missing from it. The pickup had been driven back to Beatrice and parked in the downtown parking garage, before being driven to 12th and Scott.
Beatrice Police say the total value of the vehicles and tools taken comes to over $8,825. The suspect, Burger, had his driver’s license suspended in January of 2017. Records indicate he has two previous theft convictions, from 2014 and 2016.
