Mayor Wirth announced his intentions Thursday morning, on KWBE’s Ask the Mayor program.   The mayoral position and four of eight Beatrice City Council seats have terms expiring at the end of this year.

Wirth says the first time he ran and was elected as mayor, he spent time during the campaign meeting with city department heads and getting familiar with operations of the city.

The amount of time it takes to serve as Mayor, Wirth says, was the biggest surprise to him as he concludes his first term.

Wirth is the Beatrice Market President for Pinnacle Bank.  In addition to the mayor’s post, the four Beatrice City Councilmen whose terms will expire at the end of this year include 1st Ward councilman Bob Morgan, 2nd Ward member Rick Clabaugh, Ward 3 representative Dwight Parde and 4th Ward Councilman Joe Billesbach.
