BEATRICE – Beatrice Police arrested a 26-year-old man last week as a suspect in a burglary at Shew Towing, on North 7th Street.
Eric D. Smith, of Beatrice was arrested for burglary, possession of burglar tools, possession of stolen property and possession of an illegal drug.
Last Thursday morning, officers investigated a break-in at the towing business where a hole had been cut in a six-foot fence. After later questioning Smith, police learned that items had been removed from a vehicle, including tires, rims and electronics from inside the vehicle.
Police say they searched Smith’s vehicle and found tools, lug nuts from stolen rims, and tires. Police say they also found Smith to be in possession of a straw with a white substance that tested, as methamphetamine.
His appearance bond was set at $7,500, with a June 20th hearing now scheduled in Gage County Court.
