Beatrice Police Arrest Pair, After Investigating Burglary

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police have arrested two men fleeing from the scene of a burglary at a vacant house.

Lieutenant Jay Murphy says police were called to the property along Jackson Street at around 7:15, Wednesday night.

Police caught up with the man, identified as 28-year-old Joshua Weeks, of Beatrice.  They also located another man in a car, identified as 42-year-old Philip Olin, of Beatrice.

Murphy says both men told police they were just looking through the Dumpster. Police said both appeared to be under the influence of something.  Police searched Weeks.

A police search of the vehicle recovered another glass pipe and tools in the trunk of the vehicle.

The home was vacant and was being renovated.   Murphy says Weeks was arrested on suspicion of burglary, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, and Olin was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and drug paraphernalia possession.

Police recovered some other items from the car but were trying to determine whether they had been taken from the house.
