Beatrice Police Arrest Wilber Man, For Alleged Child Enticement

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police have arrested a volunteer firefighter from Wilber, suspected of enticing an underage female, online.

Beatrice Police Lieutenant Jay Murphy says 60-year-old Kenneth Brinton was arrested at three p.m, Thursday, at a west Beatrice convenience store.

Early Thursday afternoon, police had spoken with the mother of a 13-year-old Beatrice girl, concerned about online communication the girl may have been having with an older man.

Murphy says investigators took over a computer account and arranged for the suspect to meet in Beatrice.  Brinton showed up at the convenience store, where he was arrested.

Murphy says Brinton was arrested for alleged electronic child enticement, third-degree sexual assault of a child and sexual assault through use of a computer. He was being held in Lincoln.

Murphy said police believe Brinton and the girl had met recently at the Gage County Fair, and had communicated once or twice electronically, prior to Thursday’s arrest.
