Beatrice Police Make Slew of Arrests Over Weekend

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police officers were busy over the weekend, making several arrests in separate incidents.

Authorities were summoned Saturday night to a domestic dispute in the eight-hundred block of Monroe…an altercation between a female and male.  Police arrested 39-year-old Diane Rayburn, of Beatrice, on suspicion of third-degree domestic assault.

Saturday night at 9:20, police made a warrant arrest near the area of Ashland and Monroe.  Lieutenant Jay Murphy says 36-year-old Michael Johnson, Jr. of Fairbury was wanted on a drug possession warrant from Lancaster County.  He was also booked on suspicion of a prescription pill violation, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  A person with him during the traffic stop, 43-year-old Charles Keylon, of Fairbury…was arrested for possession of marijuana and an open container violation.

Beatrice Police also made a traffic stop Saturday night at around nine, near Twelfth and Scott Streets. A vehicle was observed without an operating left headlight.  An officer observed loose pills on the dashboard of the vehicle and was granted permission by the operator to search.  Police recovered a glass pipe from a purse, with residue that tested positive as methamphetamine.  Officers arrested 26-year-old Christine Lottman of Blue Springs, for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Saturday morning at two o’clock, police arrested 25-year-old Andrew Whitmore, of Beatrice, during a traffic stop in the eleven-hundred block of North Sixth.  He was booked for allegedly driving under the influence.

Lieutenant Murphy says police also made a driving-while-intoxicated traffic stop at around two a.m., Sunday, in the five hundred block of Court Street.  30-year-old Dustin Clayton, of Beatrice was arrested for alleged D.U.I., possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
