Beatrice Public Library Celebrating National Library Month

BEATRICE – April is National Library Appreciation Month and the week of April 8th through the 14th has been proclaimed by Mayor Stan Wirth, as National Library Week, in Beatrice.

Public Librarian Laureen Riedesul says several special events are planned during what is the 125th year of the local library.  One is this evening at seven…a presentation by researcher and writer for the Museum of Nebraska Art.  Lonnie Dunbier discusses the role of fourteen Beatrice women artists who were active before 1945.

Riedesul says the library just recently confirmed a seven p.m. performance Tuesday, April 24th, of an English touring guitarist, Claude Bourbon.

Later this month, a dedication will be held of the new lower level of the library.  That is on Sunday, April 29th, at 2:30 p.m.

Other events during National Library Month in Beatrice include a seed starting presentation, April 5th at seven p.m, …..an SCC Art Exhibit the entire month beginning April 7th and an April 19th spring gathering of genealogists.

On April 23rd at 7:30 p.m., it’s Doll Research Night at the Library.  April 26th, a seven p.m book discussion is scheduled on Nebraska Presence: An Anthology of Poetry.  On April 28th, an open house with library partners and volunteers is from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
